As a minimalist, I’m very conscious of gift-giving, because I never want to be the cause of anyone’s clutter. But also, were Modest Minimalists, so we love to give a gift that we know will make others happy :). Because of this, I’m sharing with you the best gifts I have found for Mother’s Day that you won’t feel guilty about giving—they’ll use them everyday, and they won’t take up unnecessary space in her life!

Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug (Amazon)

I actually just received this as a gift, and it totally exceeded my expectations. I’m a notoriously slow coffee drinker, so I’ve tried a variety of mug warmers and figured this one would be about the same—I was wrong! The base is for charging, so your mug will stay warm even if it’s not sitting on it. The app is really cool and allows you to customize the temperatures. If you have an on-the-go mom, try this Ember travel mug.

Kindle Paperwhite (Amazon)

For the book-loving mom, a Kindle is essential. There are hundreds of books available to buy, and they’re usually cheaper than buying paperback or hardback books. I recently upgraded my old Kindle to the Paperwhite because it’s WATERPROOF! Very important for poolside or bathtub reading. If you haven’t seen a Kindle yet, I will warn you that the screen is not super high-quality like an iPad or your phone, and everything moves a bit more slowly. I only say this because I was a little blind-sided by the screen. However, this allows for more comfortable reading and your eyes won’t hurt after, like they would on an iPad.

Bonus! Gift a Kindle Unlimited Membership, too! This gives her access to over 1 million ebooks that she can read on any device.

Apple AirPods Pro (Amazon)

What’s a better gift for a mom than noise-cancelling headphones? :)
The AirPods Pro have an improved comfort fit and are easy to pair to your iPhone. They have a sleek, minimal design that won’t get in the way when she’s making dinner, out in the garden, or wood-working in the toolshed.

Shiatsu Foot Massager (Amazon)

TBH, I haven’t actually tried this one, but it looks fantastic and like an excellent gift for a mom. It has almost 7,000 5-star reviews, plus soothing heat, deep kneading therapy, and air compression. Seems like you can’t go wrong.

Plush Electric Heated Throw Blanket (Amazon)

So, actually, I stole this from my mother-in-law (jk, she let us borrow it, then just got herself a new one). But it’s amazing. It’s really soft, heats up quickly, has an auto-shutoff, and is even machine-washable! This is one of my go-to gifts, and everyone loves them (especially dogs)!

SodaStream Sparkling Water Maker (Amazon)

I literally just got this as a birthday gift, and let me tell ya. It’s a game-changer. I used to go through a million bottles of Topo Chico per week, and my SodaStream has allowed me cut this extra expense. I’m terrible about drinking enough water, but sparkling water makes it feel like a treat.

capri Blue Volcano Reed Oil Diffuser (Amazon)

Volcano has become an insanely popular scent, and for a good reason. I was obsessed with these candles, but I wanted something I could have around all day, so I decided to try out the oil diffuser. It provides a nice, light scent that smells amazing, without being overpowering. Once the scent starts to fade, I just flip over the reeds, and it’s good as new!

grace & stella Under Eye Mask (Amazon)

I have actually bought these for my mom several times after I tried them out in a Fab, Fit, Fun box. We both typically wake up with puffy eyes, and these worked instantly for both of us! These eye masks are vegan and cruelty-free and reduce puffiness and dark circles.

MakeUp Eraser (Amazon)

This is an absolute ESSENTIAL for all make-up wearers (and yes, I did buy one for my mom and she gave it the stamp of approval). I had to part with my old makeup remover wipes after they started irritating my face and once I realized the environmental impact single-use wipes have. I’ve tried other off-brand versions, and they’re okay, but the MakeUp Eraser is worth the marginal price difference. Mulan’s sleeves must have been made with this. All you do is add warm water, and all of your makeup comes off with ease, including waterproof mascara. It’s actually magical. You just wash it with your towel load and can use it over and over again. I’ve had mine forever and it’s still holding up well.
