I can’t believe little Mia is already 7 months old! She’s been on the move and has been more interested in toys than ever. As a wannabe minimalist, I try to not buy an excess of toys and am very intentional with what I bring into the home. Previously, I just had some teethers and stuffies (mostly from our baby shower) and thought that was enough for a while. It wasn’t until we visited our friend’s house and Mia was playing with their baby’s toys that I realized she wasn’t thriving with the toys we had at home. I don’t like big, obnoxious, loud, plastic toys, and I don’t think they’re the best for babies’ development, so I’ve tried to stick with more simple toys. Keep reading for Mia’s current favorites!

If you are prepping for your baby shower, create a Baby Registry on Amazon and add some of these ideas! P.S. Did you know about the completion discount? Whatever is left on your registry that didn’t get gifted to you can be purchased using the completion discount! The 15% discount is available 60 days before your arrival date and expires 90 days after your arrival date. It gets better: you can use this discount unlimited times during that window! FYI, not everything is eligible for the discount when it is added to your registry.

Llama Wooden Instrument

I initially added this to Mia’s Christmas list because she has a llama themed room and I thought it was really cute :) It turns out, this is one of her favorite toys right now! The mallets are her favorite part, and she crawls around with them all the time. I love that there are a variety of different ways to play with this, from the xylophone to the maraca tail!

Lovevery Months 7-8 Playkit

I had been seeing the Lovevery playkits on social media since before Mia was born. I was interested, but didn’t love the idea of bringing in so many toys every couple of months. But when I realized Mia’s toys weren’t the most engaging for her, I started looking into the playkits. I want to make sure I’m helping her develop the best I can, and the Lovevery playkits are developed by OTs, neuroscientists, and a bunch of people that know their stuff. Plus, I watched the video for this kit and realized they can use these toys long-term, and I was sold. So far, Mia has loved every toy in the months 7-8 playkit, and I love their simplicity and that they’re research-backed.

Sophie La Girafe

If you’ve ever been around young kids, you’ve probably seen Sophie. For some reason, babies love these teethers above all others, and Mia is no exception. Mia doesn’t take pacifiers and doesn’t take interest in any other teethers but this one. I have no idea what makes it so special, but this gets the Mia stamp of approval!

Modular Play Couch

Once Mia hit 7 months old, she was on the go: crawling, climbing, pulling herself up to stand, and not stopping. I wanted something that she could safely climb on, so I started looking into modular play couches. There are several out there, but I chose this one because it had a good price and didn’t have too many pieces (no clutter, please!). She definitely requires my full attention at this point, but she absolutely loves pulling herself up and climbing all over this couch! Plus, she will be able to continue to use this throughout toddlerhood, so I think it’s a great buy.

The Bunnicorn Touch-and-Feel Book

My mom got Mia this book for Easter, and she loves it! Touch-and-feel books are great at this age, and it makes reading so fun for her. There are tons of touch-and-feel books out there, and you probably can’t go wrong with any of them. The Bunnicorn has cute illustrations, is a good length, and has engaging touch-and-feel surfaces.

Baby Blocks

These simple blocks are a hit right now! This package comes with a set of 10, and they are the perfect size for her little hands. They’re not hard, so I don’t have to worry about her getting hurt if she throws these or falls on them. She loves to watch me build them up so she can knock them over :)

Have you tried any of these toyss? Did I leave out anything that your baby loves? Let me know in the comments below! :)
